Dawn Staley’s South Carolina basketball team was voted as the second-best team in the SEC by the SEC media last week at SEC Media Days. Kamilla Cardoso was also the only Gamecock selected by the voters for the All-SEC teams or for any postseason awards (Cardoso was chosen as a first-teamer by the media).

On Tuesday, the SEC basketball coaches sent in their votes on the preseason conference rankings and awards.

The coaches matched the media’s ranking by putting South Carolina basketball second in the SEC behind the defending national champion LSU Tigers. The Gamecocks, however, did have more than just Cardoso included on the All-SEC squads.

Cardoso, once again, made the preseason All-SEC first-team as she is expected to be one of the top players in the conference this season. Transfer guard Te-Hina Paopao also made a preseason All-SEC team, coming in on the second-team.

The South Carolina basketball team will open their season in Paris, France against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

The entire SEC basketball standings and All-SEC teams can be seen below:

***Ties are not broken for All-SEC teams, meaning teams can have more than 5 players if there are ties in the voting
