South Carolina baseball continues to roll in recruiting. On Monday, the Gamecocks pulled in commitments from Ryan Brennecke, Peter Mershon, and Cameron Appenzeller. After a horrible Tuesday that saw the Gamecocks fail to bring in a single commitment (Please recognize the sarcasm here), Mark Kingston and the USC coach staff picked up two more on Wednesday

Left-handed pitcher Brandon Clarke and right-handed hurler Henry Prindl both pledged their services to the garnet and black on Wednesday.

Brandon Clarke, a junior college product, was committed to Liberty when new Gamecock pitching coach Matt Williams had the same job with the Flames. The long-armed lefty can light up the radar gun, topping out in the upper 90s with his fastball. As has been the theme this offseason, Clarke will be counted on to help fix the Cocks’ lack of southpaws.

Clarke was once an elite recruit coming out of high school but after leaving the University of Alabama, he went to junior college where he only pitched a handful of innings in 2023.

Henry Prindl is a big-bodied righty who throws hard (low 90s) and could add even more velocity as he fills out more into his 6’5″ frame. He also has a nice breaking ball that will play nicely in the SEC if he can command it. The class of 2024 pitcher has the type of “stuff” that can play as both a starter and as a reliever.

Prindl, a native of Las Vegas, also plays first base and a little bit of outfield, but he expected to focus on pitching at the college level.

With the large number of recent commitments, South Carolina baseball is filling up the future roster. Fans can expect a large number of players to leave the program through the MLB Draft and the transfer portal to accommodate the new additions.
