This Saturday, South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer and his team will look to stop the bleeding in the “other Columbia” as the Gamecocks seek a tough road win against the Missouri Tigers. It will be a tough ask as Missouri is one of the top-3 teams in the SEC East this season, and quarterback Brady Cook has been one of the best players in the conference.

No matter what happens this Saturday (3:30 kick in CoMo on the SECNetwork and ESPN app), USC has an uphill battle to reach bowl eligibility. The 2-4 Gamecocks play Jacksonville State and Vanderbilt and should be favored in those contests. A home game against Kentucky should be a close line, and the ‘Cocks are likely underdogs in the other three games on the schedule.

Each week is a big deal for Carolina as they attempt to hold things together.

On Monday, South Carolina football announced the kickoff time and broadcast information for the team’s next game. On next Saturday at 12:00, the Gamecocks will kick off their road contest at Kyle Field in College Station against the Texas A&M Aggies. The game will be broadcast on ESPN and the ESPN app.

The Battle for the Bonham Trophy will mark the second straight week that the Gamecocks will play for a trophy (the Mayor’s Cup is awarded to the winner of the South Carolina-Missouri game each year), and the two road trips mark the farthest possible SEC trips from Columbia, South Carolina (at least until Texas and Oklahoma join the conference in 2024).

The Gamecocks are early underdogs against Mizzou and likely will be underdogs again next weekend against the Aggies. However, as usual, A&M has a lot of drama surrounding its program. Head coach Jimbo Fisher is always teetering between the “hot seat” and the “warm seat” in College Station, and the Aggies have dealt with three players being arrested in the last six weeks.
