It has been public knowledge that Hill’s father wants him to go to Alabama. Most who follow recruiting believed that Hill was set to pick the Gamecocks when he announced his first commitment date, but his father’s pleas for Alabama caused a delay.
At that time, Hill had a top-3 of South Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee. Since the delay in his commitment, some speculated that home state programs Ole Miss and Mississippi State might have snuck into the running. However, an announcement from Hill on Wednesday put that rumor to rest.
Hill, through a graphic from On3’s Hayes Fawcett, announced that his top-3 was still South Carolina, Alabama, and Tennessee.
Hill coming out with his top-3 could indicate that he is getting close to making his decision.
As a player, Hill possesses the much sought-after combination of size and speed. At 6’2″ and over 220 pounds, he is bigger than any running back set to be on the South Carolina football roster next season, but his multiple state championships in track and field show that he has enough burst to be effective against the speed of SEC defenses, as well.
Hill also possesses some serious versatility as a player. During his high school career, he has played running back, quarterback, and wide receiver for the Meridian High School offense, and he is a physical marvel at linebacker on the other side of the football.
Shane Beamer and his South Carolina football coaching staff have been recruiting Hill as a running back, and that appears to be his preferred position at the college level. He is rated as an athlete by 247Sports and as a running back by On3.
