South Carolina basketball legend Aliyah Boston is one of the two greatest players in the history of the Gamecock program. Along with A’ja Wilson, Boston has the distinction of being the best player on a USC national championship team and winning a National Player of the Year award.

Also like Wilson, Boston unanimously won the WNBA Rookie of the Year award and started the All-Star Game in 2023.

On Monday, however, it was announced that Aliyah Boston was going to begin something new this fall.

The Indiana Fever All-Star will be returning to college basketball, this time in broadcasting. According to a press release from NBC, Boston will be a studio analyst during Big Ten women’s basketball coverage this season. This will be her broadcasting debut. All of the Big Ten coverage from NBC will be available only on the Peacock app.

As a four-time All-American during her college career, Boston knows a thing or two about what good basketball looks like. Also, despite playing in the SEC, she matched up with Big 10 teams seven times in her college career, compiling a 5-2 record against the conference.

Boston will be joined in the studio by experienced broadcaster Carolyn Manno. Manno has been a part of NBC’s college basketball coverage some in the past, so Boston will have her experience to lean on as she learns the ropes.

Throughout her college career, Boston was always a popular interview. She is well-spoken and knowledgeable about the game, something that always shone through when she had a microphone in front of her. On several occasions, interviewers from ESPN and other outlets would joke that Boston would wind up taking their jobs in broadcasting.

Now, just a year removed from the college game, those predictions are correct.

South Carolina basketball fans will be sure to tune in to watch Boston’s broadcasting work, and there is a chance that she could be working the game when the Gamecocks take on the Maryland Terrapins this November.
