South Carolina football currently has 15 commitments in the class of 2024. That won’t be the final number, however.
The Gamecocks are in the game for a number of uncommitted prospects. Elite recruits like running back Daniel Hill, offensive lineman Jordan Seaton, and athlete Kam Mikell are considering USC.
There are also some players who are committed to other schools that are still listening to recruiting pitches from the South Carolina football coaching staff.
Current Gamecock quarterback commitment Dante Reno hinted that the Gamecocks are still in the game for a few flip candidates. On Twitter (x?), Reno reminded South Carolina football fans that this time of year is sometimes referred to as “flip season.” He also added to the *insert eyes emoji here* type of post by including the hashtag #24EverToThee, the marker for his Gamecock recruiting class.

Does Reno know something? Possibly.
The Gamecocks are believed to still be in the mix for Southern Cal commitment Kameryn Fountain (4-star EDGE), Auburn pledge Jalewis Solomon (4-star athlete), and Tennessee commit Braylon Staley (4-star wide receiver).
Fountain, despite his commitment to Lincoln Riley’s Trojans, plans on taking more visits before signing during the Early Signing Period this December. Carolina was always high on his list, and him taking a hard look at the Gamecocks is realistic.
Just over a week ago, Solomon sent out a cryptic message over social media declaring it “Ain’t over yet.” Could the talented two-way athlete be talking about his recruitment? Gamecock Twitter apparently thought so as Solomon’s replies were filled with South Carolina football fans doing their best to recruit him to Columbia. Many analysts believed Solomon was going to pick the Gamecocks when he committed to Auburn this summer, so a flip to USC is not out of the question.
Staley, a South Carolina native, just received his scholarship offer from the Gamecocks in the last week. The long-overdue offer gives the Strom Thurmond product something to think about as he could be the second South Carolina native to flip from Tennessee to South Carolina in the class of 2024, following in the footsteps of fellow receiver Mazeo Bennett.
At this point, it is impossible to know if Reno’s prognostication is built upon blind hope or real evidence, but South Carolina football fans everywhere are just one Shane Beamer “#WelcomeHome” tweet away from lighting up the internet once again.
Remember, it’s “flip season,” and there are some real options in play.
