SEC Football Quarterback Power Rankings:
No. 8 Alabama’s Jalen Milroe

There has been a lot of talk about how Jalen Milroe has played poorly this season for Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide. That type of analysis isn’t accurate.

Jalen Milroe has been a pretty good quarterback this season. However, because Bryce Young, Mac Jones, Tua Tagovailoa, and Jalen Hurts have been the last four starting quarterbacks for ‘Bama, expectations are high for anyone leading the Alabama offense.

Milroe has completed almost 70% of his passes on the year and has over 1000 yards of offense in just four games, despite not playing in the 4th quarter of two of those contests.

It would be incorrect to say that Jalen Milroe has been great in 2023, but the narrative surrounding his struggles has been overblown. He wasn’t great against Texas, but the Longhorns might just be one of the best teams in all of college football.

With five straight games against SEC foes (including three ranked opponents), the next stretch of play for Milroe could determine whether or not the Nick Saban dynasty is officially over or not. Georgia has taken over the throne the past two seasons, and if the Crimson Tide miss the College Football Playoff again, Kirby Smart’s team officially will have taken over as the premier program in the land.

For now, the player that might have the most to say about this potential passing of the guard is Jalen Milroe. No pressure, kid.
