SEC Football: Quarterback power rankings

SEC Football Quarterback Power Rankings:
No. 10 Tennessee’s Joe Milton
Joe Milton is one of the most physically gifted throwers of the football in the history of college football. Up to this point in his career, that has not translated to much success on the field. The cannon-armed Milton has struggled with accuracy both at Michigan and at Tennessee.
Vols head coach Josh Heupel runs a very quarterback-friendly offensive system, but he and offensive coordinator Joey Halzle have had to shift to a more run-based attack becuase of Milton’s mediocre play. Thankfully for Tennessee fans, the Volunteers have run the ball extremely well, so they have overcome their middling passing offense.
Tennessee has played a very soft schedule so far this season (their only two Power-5 contests have come at home against South Carolina and on the road against Florida). In those two games, Milton has three interceptions and has posted two of his three worst QBR games of the season despite hitting two 50+ yard completions (the one against the Gamecocks being a horribly-underthrown ball that the receiver came back to catch).
As a whole, Milton has been one of the worst deep ball passers in college football this season. He started 3/13 on passes thrown 20 or more yards through the air before hitting one near the end of the Florida contest.
Milton has added a little value with his legs this season, but a minor knee injury has limited his scrambling a bit the past couple of weeks.
