SEC Football Quarterback Power Rankings:
No. 1 LSU’s Jayden Daniels

Arguably the best player in the entire Southeastern Conference so far in 2023 has been LSU’s Jayden Daniels. If his defense wasn’t surprisingly bad this year, the Bayou Bengals would be firmly in the College Football Playoff picture. As it stands, however, 2 losses will keep them out of the Playoff, but with just one of those losses coming in SEC play, they could still fight their way to an SEC title.

Daniels has been out of this world this fall, throwing for over 1700 yards on almost 75% efficiency. Spencer Rattler, Carson Beck, Jaxson Dart, and Brady Cook are the “closest” to Daniels’ total yardage output, but none of them have thrown for more than 1500 passing yards.

Also a threat on the ground, #5 has also run for almost 300 yards and 3 scores, meaning he has over 2000 yards of offense and 19 touchdowns through five games. His one “bad game” of the year was LSU’s loss to top-5 Florida State, and Daniels still put up over 400 yards of offense.

With numbers like these, it’s no surprise that Brian Kelly’s squad is averaging over 40 points per game on offense despite playing 3 SEC foes and Florida State. The schedule won’t get much easier, though, as the Tigers still have to play Alabama, Texas A&M, Auburn, Missouri, and Florida.

If Daniels can continue putting up these types of numbers down the stretch of the SEC football season, he might find himself in New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony at season’s end.
