SEC Football Quarterback Power Rankings:
No. 5 Georgia’s Carson Beck

Frankly, it’s hard to rate Carson Beck. Georgia’s roster talent is far superior to anyone that they’ve played, and his offensive weapons have been incredible after the catch. By himself, Brock Bowers had over 80 yards after the catch against Auburn last Saturday, and Daijun Ewards, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, RaRa Thomas, Ladd McConkey, and Dominic Lovett are all big-time playmakers, as well.

To his credit, Beck has done his job. He has limited his turnovers (just 2 interceptions on 161 pass attempts), and he has only taken 3 sacks. Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo hasn’t made things too complicated for his inexperienced quarterback, and Beck has rewarded him with a very efficient 70% passing mark.

Beck has played well when it matters, as well. In tight second halves against South Carolina and Auburn, he calmly led the Bulldogs down the field to erase deficits and secure leads to preserve Georgia’s undefeated record. Where many inexperienced SEC quarterbacks have failed, Beck has succeeded.

Will he be up to the task if/when the Bulldogs make it to the SEC Championship Game and the College Football Playoff? That remains to be seen. But for now, he has done everything that has been asked of him, and he’s done it at a high level.
