The renowned philosopher Andy Bernard once said, “I wish there was a way to know you’re in the good ole days before you’ve left them.” For South Carolina football, while there have been several other pockets of success, the height of the Steve Spurrier era was the pinnacle of the Gamecock football program. Specifically, 2010-2013 were the best years in team history.

Some of the best players in school history came through the garnet and black program during those years. Legends like Connor Shaw, Marcus Lattimore, Jadeveon Clowney, Alshon Jeffery, and Stephon Gilmore were just a handful of the major talents that dominated at Williams-Brice Stadium in those days.

In those seasons, the Head Ball Coach led the Gamecocks to the program’s only SEC East title (2010) and three straight 11-win seasons (2011-2013). Carolina combined to go 17-4 against Clemson, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky and a perfect 3-0 against historic Big 10 programs Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Michigan as all four seasons ended with the Gamecocks inside the AP top-20, including a 4th-place finish in 2013.

It truly was the good ole days.

On Wednesday, South Carolina football announced that the “good ole days” for the Gamecocks would be receiving a well-deserved honor soon. The 2010-2013 South Carolina football teams will have a reunion and be honored in a halftime ceremony during the Gamecocks’ game against Jacksonville State on November 4th.

During the halftime ceremony, Steve Spurrier will address the Gamecock crowd. Anytime the Head Ball Coach is handed a microphone, it is a must-watch event, so fans will want to pay attention. Spurrier will be joined by a number of players from those teams, including several of the 17 NFL Draft picks from those years.

Tickets for the game are currently on sale for just $25 as a special “Buy” Week promotion.

The ceremony is part of a continued effort by the South Carolina football program during the Shane Beamer era to honor those who came before them. Last season, Jadeveon Clowney had his #7 jersey retired, and earlier this season, Alshon Jeffery also had his #1 jersey retired.
