The South Carolina basketball program has a number of players who are on professional rosters. From NBA players like GG Jackson and AJ Lawson to NBA G League players like Chris Silva to overseas Gamecocks like PJ Dozier, Michael Carrera, and Maik Kotsar, the Gamecocks are well-represented all over the globe in professional basketball.

This week, South Carolina basketball alums Hassani Gravett and Seventh Woods, who both played for former Gamecock coach Frank Martin, will start their new professional basketball career.

Gravett, who played three seasons for the Gamecocks including on the 2016-2017 Final Four team, had bounced around between several professional leagues and the NBA in recent seasons. He will start his new gig with Polish club Slask Wroclaw. Slask Wroclaw is the most decorated team in the Polish Basketball League known as the PLK.

Gravett played both point guard and shooting guard while in garnet and black but had his best success as the first man off the bench for the Gamecocks in the 2018-2019 season. He won the SEC’s Sixth Man of the Year award after scoring over 11 points per game and shooting 40% from 3-point land.

Woods, who played just one season in Columbia (he was on the roster for two years but missed one season after sitting out when he transferred in), is also a Columbia native. Woods was an internet sensation in high school known for his high-flying dunk mixtapes. He began his career at North Carolina before battling injuries and transferring home.

The combo guard was never fully healthy at USC, either, and his career with the Gamecocks ended after just one season on the court. He transferred as a graduate student to Morgan State. Now, he is playing professionally in Ireland where he recently signed a deal to join the UCC Demons of the Irish Super League.
