South Carolina Football: Gamecocks land commitment from intriguing Virginia recruit
By Kevin Miller
The South Carolina football team had a good weekend. Beating the Mississippi State Bulldogs 37-30, the Gamecocks also were honored with the SEC’s Co-Offensive Player of the Week (quarterback Spencer Rattler) and the SEC’s Defensive Lineman of the Week (defensive tackle Alex “Boogie” Huntley).
Shane Beamer’s program also had a big recruiting weekend in which they welcomed in a lot of future prospects to a tremendous Williams-Brice Stadium atmosphere. One of the recruits on the visit decided that he had seen enough of the program to make his college choice.
Just one day after the visit weekend, versatile Virginia jumbo athlete Chase Kibble announced his commitment to the South Carolina football program with an announcement on his personal Twitter/X account.
Kibble plays his high school football for Loudoun County High School in Virginia and plays multiple positions for the Captains.
As a jumbo athlete, Kibble plays on both the offensive and defensive lines. On offense, he primarily plays tackle (though he is an undersized tackle), but he has taken some snaps in his high school career as a tight end. On defense, Kibble plays defensive end but occasionally bumps inside to defensive tackle. He punts, as well, but his football future is likely with his hand in the dirt on the line of scrimmage.
As a player, Kibble moves his feet well for a high school lineman. He is undersized as an offensive tackle, and he will have to get significantly stronger if he is to get on the field at the next level, whether his future is on offense or on defense.
Kibble is a big-time track and field athlete as a state champion discus thrower. He also plays basketball. It is unclear if he plans to pursue track and field at South Carolina.
