South Carolina Football: Getting to know the opponent: Mississippi State
By Kevin Miller
This week, Kevin Miller from Garnet and Cocky took some time to chat with Evan Ertel from Maroon and White Nation about this Saturday’s matchup between the South Carolina football squad and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
The Maroon and White Nation side of the conversation can be found here.
Without any further ado, here are the questions and answers that fans need to read regarding this Saturday’s game between the Gamecocks and the Bulldogs.
KM: First off, rest in peace to The Pirate Mike Leach. What do Mississippi State fans think about the start of the Zach Arnett era in Starkville? Specifically, how do they feel about the drastic system changes he is attempting to install?
EE: For starters, I am not sure that the change is quite as dramatic as some thought it would be. Of course, it’s more RB-centric than Leach ever was, but it’s also not like Will Rogers is taking every snap under center. He came in with a vision, but as someone who was on staff last year, he also generally knows the limitations of his roster.
That said, it has not been a smooth transition. Rogers has yet to look comfortable in the pocket, and accuracy seems to have regressed significantly. If we see a repeat of last week where Rogers had more completions to the turf than his wideouts and the offensive line isn’t able to give him any time, it is going to be another long Saturday for Bulldogs fans.
