South Carolina Football vs. Furman:
The Injury Report

Injuries were still a storyline in South Carolina football’s matchup with Georgia, but, thankfully, there were not nearly as many new instances of players getting hurt in this one. Unfortunately, the biggest injury was a significant one.

  • It was known that Markee Anderson, Jatius Geer, Jaylen Nichols, Cason Henry, and Ryan Brubaker would be unable to play on Saturday, and they did not travel with the team.
  • Wide receiver Ahmarean Brown did not travel with his hamstring injury. Eddie Lewis and Luke Doty split most of the snaps in the slot.
  • Defensive end Tyreek Johnson did not travel with the team due to injury, but he was not listed on any of Coach Beamer’s injury reports this week.
  • Juice Wells went to the locker room after his first-drive touchdown, presumedly dealing with his foot/toe injury. Coach Beamer later called his injury a “broken bone in his foot” but seemed to indicate it was a different injury than the one that he has battled since the offseason. O’Mega Blake got most of the snaps in his stead.
  • David Spaulding and Nick Emmanwori were back in the secondary after missing last week and most of week 1. The two defensive backs played the majority of the snaps in the game. Spaulding, Emmanwori, DQ Smith, and Jalon Kilgore got almost all the snaps at safety and nickel.
