Despite the loss to North Carolina last weekend, South Carolina football quarterback Spencer Rattler was very impressive. Running for his life for most of the game because of poor pass protection, Rattler still managed to be an efficient 30-39 passer and rack up 353 yards through the air. Those numbers could have been even better as his pass-catchers dropped multiple passes.

Combined with the way #7 ended the 2022 season, a familiar hype is building around the Gamecocks’ signal caller, similar to the high expectations placed on him when he was the starting quarterback at Oklahoma.

This week, On3’s Andrew Graham released his top-25 quarterback rankings, and Spencer Rattler made the cut.

Rattler came in ranked as the 17th-best quarterback in all of college football, and his stock is on the rise as he outdueled the #2 quarterback on the list last weekend. With a win against Furman this weekend and another strong performance from Rattler, he will keep moving up the rankings.

Rattler has already faced off with North Carolina’s Drake Maye (#2), but he and the Gamecocks will also face Joe Milton (#11) and the Tennessee Volunteers, Devin Leary (#15) and the Kentucky Wildcats, Will Rogers (#22) and the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and Cade Klubnick (#24) and the Clemson Tigers.
