If anyone has any doubt about the dedication of South Carolina football fans, they just aren’t paying attention. The Gamecocks regularly rank among the top teams in the nation in attendance across all sports, and the football team has been known to have a dedicated following through the good times and the bad times.

On Thursday, the South Carolina football team announced a sellout for this weekend’s game against Furman despite a poor performance last weekend and an FCS opponent on Saturday.

The Furman Paladins will be welcomed by a capacity crowd at Williams-Brice Stadium, one that will be hungry to see a South Carolina football victory after the disappointment of last weekend.

More than many fans might expect, the Gamecocks might need that crowd to do its part on Saturday. Furman is a very good team from the FCS level, and they will do whatever it takes to try to knock off their in-state big brother.

Shane Beamer’s squad will be looking to right the ship against the Paladins as the team has several points of improvement that are, undoubtedly, being drilled into the team by the South Carolina football coaching staff during practice this week.

Improving the line play on both the offensive and defensive lines will be a top priority on Saturday, and the Gamecocks should have superior size and athletes up front. A good showing against Furman could give the big uglies enough confidence to take a real step forward as USC heads into SEC play.

The game against Furman will kick off at 7:30 on September 9th and will be broadcast on the SECNetwork+ and the ESPN App.

The school also announced on Thursday that the majority of the tickets for the next home game (a week 4 contest against the Mississippi State Bulldogs) have also been sold. Small amounts of single-seat tickets are still available but are disappearing quickly.

Between the two games against Furman and Mississippi State, the Gamecocks will travel to Athens to face the two-time defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs for a 3:30 contest on CBS.
