Dawn Staley’s South Carolina basketball team learned their SEC opponents in June along with the rest of the conference. However, unlike the rest of the conference, when they learned the dates of those games on Wednesday, the Gamecocks had the country’s best media team get to work on a schedule announcement.

Led by the incomparable Justin King, the South Carolina Athletics media team is, quite simply, better than everyone else. The idea they came up with for the schedule reveal is so simple, but it is amazing nonetheless.

In a short video that the team released on social media, the schedule was announced via artificial intelligence-generated images. Along with captions of the date for each game, an AI-generated rendering of the opposing team’s mascot was included.

Some of the depictions were terrifying, and some were a little bit disgusting, but all of them were entertaining (though, the Texas A&M picture was the most “normal” looking one of the bunch).

***DISCLAIMER: If you hope to get a good night of sleep tonight, don’t look too closely at the Alabama or Arkansas images…

The Gamecocks are looking to continue their strong run in the 2023-2024 season. Dawn Staley’s team has made the last three Final Fours (and was the #1 team in America when the season shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the 2019-2020 campaign). They also won the National Championship in the 2021-2022 season.

USC will open its season in Paris, France where they will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on November 6th.
