South Carolina football got off to a fast start in the 2024 recruiting class. Peaking as high as the top-5 class in the country, the Gamecocks secured early commitments from blue chip players at several positions of need, including the two top offensive tackles in the country in Kam Pringle and Josiah Thompson.

The summer was much less busy, and Carolina tumbled in the recruiting rankings as other programs “caught up” to USC.

Things have picked up a bit over the last two weeks for South Carolina football as the Gamecocks received commitments from 4-star athlete Zy’marion Lang (likely to begin his college career at wide receiver) and 5-star EDGE Dylan Stewart who was the nation’s top player earlier in this cycle according to On3.

In recent days, a number of prospects from both the class of 2024 and the class of 2025 have released their lists of top schools, lists that include the South Carolina football program.

That continued on Thursday as long-time Gamecock defensive tackle target D’Nas White announced his top-5 finalists.

White’s final group includes South Carolina, Florida State, Tennessee, Georgia, and Coastal Carolina.

White, a North Carolina native, is a 3-star prospect with an impressive offer list. Coastal Carolina was one of his earliest offers, but the other four schools in White’s top-5 only offer big-time talents up front, so fans of whichever school the big tackle chooses can expect a better player than the 3-star rating might indicate.

Nicknamed “Debo,” White is big enough to play a nose tackle role (6’6” and 310 pounds) but moves well enough to slide out to a 3-technique or even a 4i-technique spot in a defensive front. He is disruptive with his sheer size and strength, creating a massive obstacle for any offensive line to try to move.
