South Carolina Football: The Gamecocks are undefeated all-time against these teams

South Carolina football is undefeated against these all-time great programs
Texas: The Gamecocks hooked the Texas Longhorns in 1957 when underrated head coach Warren Giese and his Carolina squad traveled to the capital city of the state of Texas. The Gamecocks beat the top-20 ranked Longhorns behind the 4 touchdown scores from All-ACC backs Alex Hawkins and King Dixon (Dixon’s came on special teams, however).
Hawkins and Dixon were responsible for all 27 of the Gamecocks’ points as Hawkins scored three touchdowns and kicked three extra-points, while Dixon scored a then-record 98-yard touchdown on the opening kickoff of the contest. Carolina hung on for the victory in the program’s only game against that particular shade of orange.
Wisconsin: The great Wisconsin Badgers football program had the misfortune of matching up with one of the best Gamecock teams of all-time when the 2013 season ended with a Capital One Bowl faceoff. Connor Shaw’s final game saw #14 rack up 368 total yards and 5 touchdowns, including three passing scores, one rushing touchdown, and a receiving TD.
Unsurprisingly with Shaw’s performance, Carolina knocked off the Badgers and finished the season ranked #4 in the final AP poll. That ranking is the highest final ranking in the history of the South Carolina football program.
Ohio State: South Carolina and Ohio State played back-to-back years in the Outback Bowl after the 2000 and 2001 seasons. The Gamecocks dominated the Buckeyes in the first matchup as Ohio native Ryan Brewer had the best game of his South Carolina football career. #21 logged three touchdowns and over 200 total yards against his childhood favorite team.
The rematch was significantly closer. On the final drive of the game, the score was tied at 28-28 when Daniel Weaver squeaked a 42-yard field goal through the uprights in the closing moments to secure the win. Both Gamecock wins were ranked matchups, and USC finished both the 2000 and 2001 seasons ranked inside the top-19 in the AP poll.
