South Carolina Basketball’s No. 8 Greatest NBA Player of All-Time:
Power Forward/Small Forward Gary Gregor

Gary Gregor (1964-1968) was one of the hardest workers in the history of South Carolina basketball, and he kept up that strong work in the NBA. He had arguably his best season as a rookie when he made the All-Rookie team after an 11.1-point, 8.9-rebound showing in the 1968-1969 campaign with the Phoenix Suns.

After moving to the Atlanta Hawks, Gregor was asked to play more on the perimeter, and his numbers suffered. Another move to Portland saw Gregor develop solid chemistry with point guard Rick Adelman.

He had two good seasons with the ‘Blazers before a less-than-stellar stint with the Milwaukee Bucks where he played behind legendary bigs Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Bob Dandridge. Gregor finished his career with the New York Nets where he played small forward again and served as the backup to a little-known player named Julius “Dr. J” Erving.
