South Carolina football has been in on lots of talented players at the defensive tackle position during the 2024 recruiting cycle. Unfortunately for the Gamecocks, none of these players have committed to Shane Beamer’s squad.

Carolina has lost out on multiple defensive tackles who ultimately chose other SEC programs like Georgia and Florida, but there are still a handful of big-time prospects on the Gamecocks’ recruiting board at the position.

One of these talented defensive tackles in Orlando, Florida native D’antre Robinson. Robinson is enormous, measuring 6’4″ and weighing in at 315 pounds. The central Florida product has been on the radar for numerous big-time football programs, including the South Carolina football program.

On Monday, Robinson announced his top-10 schools.

Robinson’s top-10 includes South Carolina, Alabama, LSU, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Maryland, Ohio State, Texas A&M, and Colorado.

ESPN and Rivals have Robinson rated as a 4-star prospect at defensive tackle, while On3 and 247 rank the 315-pounder as a 3-star player. Robinson’s extremely impressive offer list indicates that ESPN and Rivals might have the better idea on his talent as a player. The “who’s who” of college football has offered him, and the film makes it easy to see why.

At 6’4″ and 315 pounds, he eats double-teams for breakfast and is very difficult to get around in the run game. Every college program needs that type of player, and South Carolina football is no different.

Robinson’s game is not limited to just being a plodding space eater. He is athletic enough that he sometimes plays outside for his Jones High School squad. He will not be a defensive end in college, but that versatility shown at the high school level could show some future ability to play both as a nose tackle and as a more mobile 3-technique to 5-technique in certain situations.
