South Carolina football alum Bryson Allen-Williams has been in coaching since finishing a brief stint in the NFL after graduating from the University of South Carolina. BAW coached for one of his former Gamecock coaches Shawn Elliott at Georgia State before moving on to North Carolina. Now, the former 4-star linebacker will continue his coaching journey in a new spot.

Coach Allen-Williams will be an off-field quality control coach at the University of Southern California. As he did at both Georgia Southern and North Carolina, Allen-Williams will work with the defensive staff for the “other USC.”

In a tweet to his personal Twitter account, Allen-Williams announced the move and said that he felt things had come “full circle” for him since he visited the Southern Cal program as a high school recruit back in 2012.

It is unclear exactly what role Allen-Williams will play within the Trojans coaching staff, but he has worked with EDGE rushers and outside linebackers at Georgia State and North Carolina, respectively.

As a player for South Carolina football, BAW was a very talented defensive player who was yanked around too much. Recruited as a linebacker, he started off as a defensive end, was moved to his natural linebacker, and returned to the EDGE as a Buck in Will Muschamp’s defense. He ended his career alternating between the Buck spot and a true linebacker role.

Allen-Williams struggled with injuries during his career but put together his best year in 2016 when he was healthy for an entire season for the only time in his Gamecock tenure. That season, BAW logged 75 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks while picking off two passes, knocking two more away, forcing a fumble, recovering another, and blocking a kick.

#4 was a leader on the field and off of it, so it was no surprise that he got into coaching when his playing days ended. A captain for the Gamecocks, Allen-Williams was also elected as the Vice Chair for the SEC Football Leadership Council.
