Over the weekend, Jaloni Cambridge, one of the top prospects in the class of 2024, announced her top-7 schools. South Carolina basketball made the cut as a finalist for the talented point guard. The Gamecocks are joined by LSU, Baylor, Georgia, Ohio State, Florida, and Louisville in Cambridge’s final grouping. Cambridge announced the group via her personal Instagram account.

Cambridge is viewed as a top-3 prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle along with fellow South Carolina target (and Camden, South Carolina native) Joyce Edwards. At 5’6″, Cambridge profiles similarly to current Gamecock freshman Milaysia Fulwiley, but both players are dynamic enough to be on the court together as long as there is enough size on the floor with them.

Cambridge is from Nashville, Tennessee and plays at the Ensworth School. She is not considering Tennessee or Vanderbilt in-state. Cambridge is a great athlete and is a track star for Ensworth who has been part of multiple state championship track teams.

Cambridge is not considering in-state Tennessee or Vanderbilt. South Carolina and LSU are relatively local for Cambridge and are among the best programs in the country.

Florida and Georgia are also close by, and their rosters always seem to be one big-time player (like Cambridge) away from being a real contender.

Baylor and Louisville are elite programs, as well, and seem to have opportunities for guards to play early.

Ohio State is always a good team, and Kennedy Cambridge (Jaloni’s older sister) just transferred to the Buckeyes from the Kentucky Wildcats program.

South Carolina basketball does not have any commitments so far in the 2024 class. Cambridge is at the top of Dawn Staley’s recruiting board along with 5-stars Joyce Edwards, Imari Berry, and Justice Carlton.

The Gamecocks could be taking a small class in 2024 as Carolina only has two seniors on the team (Kamilla Cardoso and Sakima Walker) and both players could return with a “Covid redshirt” if they desire to do so.
