South Carolina Basketball’s No. 12 Greatest Forward of All-Time:
Terry Dozier

The uncle of future Gamecock great PJ Dozier, Terry Dozier (1985-1989) was an athletic power forward who began his career playing alongside fellow Gamecock great (and fellow Baltimore native) Linwood Moye. The two complimented each other well: while Moye was more of a mauler in the paint, Dozier played with more finesse. When Moye graduated, Dozier became the man down low for South Carolina basketball and improved his statistical production in every category.

As a sophomore, Dozier led the Gamecocks to the Metro Conference Tournament’s all-time largest blowout, an 88-40 thrashing of Florida State, in South Carolina basketball’s first-ever Metro Conference Tournament game. The team added talent and got significantly better after the nice showing in the tournament, and Dozier selflessly sacrificed some of his scoring in his final two seasons.

His twin Perry served as Terry’s backup for most of his career. After graduation, Terry Dozier had a brief NBA career before becoming one of the best defensive players to ever suit up in the Australian National Basketball League.
