South Carolina Basketball’s No. 13 Greatest Forward of All-Time:
Michael Carrera

Michael Carrera (2012-2016) was a wildman on the court. An all-out effort was the only type of effort he knew how to give, and it resulted in the 6’5″ forward leading the Gamecocks in rebounding for four straight seasons, despite being far from the tallest player on the court. Early in his career, his only offensive game was on the fast break and on second-chance opportunities from offensive rebounds (often his own misses), but that changed later in his career.

As a junior, Carrera showed life as a shooter, putting the ball in the basket from 3 at an over 30% clip, but he exploded as a senior, shooting over 40% from distance and scoring over 14 points per game. He made the All-SEC team that season and was a leader on a team that won 25 games.
