South Carolina Basketball’s No. 4 Greatest Forward of All-Time:
Gary Gregor

A double-double machine, Gary Gregor (1964-1968) was a multi-talented player for Frank McGuire’s Gamecocks. Displaying his versatility, Gregor played all five positions at different times during his career. Assists were not often tallied for non-point guards during this era of basketball, but Gregor was a very good passer and ball handler for a forward.

Thankfully for the West Virginia native, points and rebounds were well-documented. Gregor scored over 15 points per game and 12 rebounds per game for his career. Playing in an era in which freshmen were not allowed to play, Gregor played rotationally as a sophomore but missed the next campaign entirely before returning as a redshirt junior. He returned better than ever and put up two monster seasons in which he was selected as an All-ACC performer both years.

Gregor and teammate Skip Harlicka became the first Gamecocks drafted in the first round of the same NBA Draft, and the duo later reunited with the Atlanta Hawks. Gregor made the All-Rookie team in 1968-1969 and spent seven years in the NBA.
