South Carolina Basketball’s No. 6 Greatest Forward of All-Time:
Cedrick Hordges

A transfer from Auburn, Cedrick Hordges (1977-1980) showed flashes of brilliance for the Tigers but really shone when he found a new home in Columbia. Hordges was a stud of a power forward who could do it all in the paint for the Gamecocks. At 6’8″ and 225 pounds, Hordges was strong and skilled as a scorer, and he was an excellent rebounder who always seemed to know where the ball would bounce off the rim.

The big man from Montgomery, Alabama put up over 19 points per game in both of his seasons with the Gamecocks. He averaged a double-double during his junior season, including two double-doubles against the Clemson Tigers. Hordges is 5th all-time in scoring average and 14th in Gamecock history in rebounds per game.

After his South Carolina basketball tenure was over, Hordges was drafted by the Chicago Bulls. He was traded to the Denver Nuggets where he played for two seasons before spending over a decade bouncing around different teams in Europe.
