2009
The 2009 South Carolina squad gets overlooked because of the team’s success over the next four seasons. In 2010, the Gamecocks won the SEC East, and from 2011-2013, Carolina won 11 games in all three seasons. However, 2009 showed glimpses of what was to come and set the stage for the dominant defense that was present for most of that magical run.
The 2009 defense saw the end of several great Gamecock careers (Eric Norwood, Clifton Geathers, and Darien Stewart) and the beginnings of others (Stephon Gilmore, Devin Taylor, DJ Swearinger, and Devonte Holloman).
