South Carolina Football Needs a Healthy Mo Kaba to Be a Defensive Stalwart at Linebacker

Mo Kaba was a 4-star prospect out of high school and has shown (brief) flashes of brilliance in the middle of the Carolina defense. However, he has battled injuries in his career, including a torn ACL that kept him out of most of last season. With two senior linebackers from last year’s team (Sherrod Greene and Brad Johnson) now in rookie training camp in the NFL, a leader is needed at the position. Kaba should be able to be that guy if he can get and stay healthy.

Kaba’s rehab has reportedly gone well this offseason, and if he can bounce back to being the same type of player he was before getting injured, Gamecock fans can expect at least one of their two up-for-grabs linebacker slots to be taken care of by Kaba. Neither Greene nor Johnson were world-beaters for the Gamecocks, but they were solid in most situations. A healthy #32 calling the shots for the defensive front can be better than solid, and the Gamecocks need him to be.
