South Carolina baseball is taking on the Tennessee Volunteers this weekend…or, at least, that’s what is supposed to happen. Last night’s series opener was called due to rain, and a double header was scheduled for Friday, with game 1 being set for 3:00 and game 2 being set for an hour after the conclusion of the first leg of the double header. However, things seem to be changing again.

According to an official announcement from Gamecocksonline.com, the first game of Friday’s double header has been shifted to Saturday. Game 2 of the series will now be game 1 as the Vols and ‘Cocks will (hopefully) play on Friday night at 7:00 on SECNetwork+. Ticket holders for the original Friday night game will have their tickets honored for Friday’s game.

Saturday at 2:00 will be the official first pitch of the first game of Saturday’s double header. Ticket holders for the original Saturday game will have their tickets honored for the 2:00 game but can also stay through the entirety of the double header. Their seats will only be honored for the 2:00 contest, but the berm/concourse area and standing room only areas will be open. The game will be broadcast on the SECNetwork+.

Thursday night’s season opener will now be played as the third game of the series. Thursday ticket holders will have their tickets honored for the series finale. The berm/concourse areas and standing room only areas will be available during game 2 for Thursday night ticket holders. The series finale is set to be aired in the SECNetwork about an hour after the conclusion of the first Saturday game.

Eli Jones is expected to be the game 1 starter on the mound Friday night. After that, anything is on the table as the Gamecocks must do whatever it takes to win this series if they wish to host a regional.

Thanks to a recent rule change, the series can extend until Sunday if necessary.
