South Carolina Football: 4-star Georgia athlete names Gamecocks a finalist
By Kevin Miller
“Recruiting season” no longer really exists in college football. Instead, recruiting is a year-long endeavor that has no real beginning or end. The recruiting calendar doesn’t start or stop recruiting at all; instead, it only affects the way college coaches recruit, not how often. The South Carolina football program is loaded with hard-working recruiters who have gotten the Gamecocks in good position with tons of elite talent.
One of these big-time prospects, Jadan Baugh, has been on the South Carolina football staff’s radar for a long time. The Georgia athlete is considered a 4-star prospect by Rivals and a high 3-star recruit by the rest of the recruiting industry. Though listed as an athlete, Baugh is considered by many to be a running back at the collegiate level. He could also end up as a defensive back. For his high school team, Baugh plays everywhere, including quarterback, running back, wide receiver, safety, nickel corner, and cornerback.
On Tuesday, Baugh announced his top-6, and the Gamecocks made the cut.
Along with South Carolina, the rest of his top-6 list included Louisville, Georgia, Florida, Arkansas, and Georgia Tech.
In the fall, Baugh made a commitment date but did not follow through with a public commitment. At the time, it seemed as if Baugh was deciding between Tennessee, Michigan, and South Carolina with Tennessee appearing to be the frontrunners. Neither Tennessee nor Michigan made his updated top-6.
Baugh is a very good high school basketball player, as well, and he plays on the AAU circuit. He is expected, however, to stick with just playing football at the collegiate level. The Columbia County, Georgia native does not have a new commitment date but has said previously that he expects his recruitment to end sometime during the summer.
