South Carolina Football’s Most Impressive 2023 Spring Performers:
Wide Receiver O’Mega Blake

Wide receiver was a position that lost two major contributors from a season ago to the NFL. With Josh Vann and Jalen Brooks in the League, the Gamecocks will need receivers to step up alongside top threat Juice Wells. O’Mega Blake was selected as one of two Most Improved award winners for the offense and could be poised to earn more playing time because of it. He had several targets in the Garnet and Black Spring Game from multiple quarterbacks.

Blake’s impressive spring might not yield immediate results on the field, though, as the wide receiver room is pretty crowded with older talent. Seniors Juice Wells, Dakereon Joyner, Ahamarean Brown, Xavier Legette, and Eddie Lewis will all be ahead of Blake to start the year, but if Blake can see the field just a little bit, perhaps he can carry that into next offseason and make another jump to fill the void left by these older players leaving after the 2023 season.
