South Carolina Football’s Most Impressive 2023 Spring Performers:
Cornerback O’Donnell Fortune

Gamecock cornerbacks Cam Smith and Darius Rush were each selected in the 2023 NFL Draft last week, so the South Carolina defense is in desperate need of players to step up on the outside. Marcellas Dial has had some solid moments for Carolina and has the most experience returning at the position, but O’Donnell Fortune filled in during the Gator Bowl after the season, got the most experience of his playing career, and had a 100-yard interception return for a score in the game.

Fortune has carried over his bowl game success into the 2022-2023 offseason. The 6’1″ corner was named the Most Improved award winner for the defense this spring, a welcome sign for Gamecock fans who have fears over cornerback production in the wake of losing two NFL talents.
