South Carolina football got off to a red-hot start to the 2024 recruiting cycle, and that momentum hasn’t slowed down heading into the prospects’ junior springs. With so many players these days desiring to have their recruitments completed by the start of their senior seasons, recruiting news seems to breaking almost daily: this player sets his top-5, this player makes an official visit, that player commits. This upcoming week will be no different.

4-star wide receiver and Charlotte native Micah Gilbert has announced via his personal Twitter account that he will be making his commitment announcement on Tuesday.

Gilbert has narrowed his list down to seven finalists that include South Carolina, Michigan, North Carolina, Duke, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, and Virginia Tech.

The playmaker from Charlotte Christian School has a college-ready body at 6’2″ and 205 pounds. Gilbert is an explosive athlete who could make an impact immediately if put into the right situation with the right coaching.

According to On3Sports’ Recruiting Prediction Machine, Notre Dame is a heavy favorite to secure a commitment from the talented North Carolinian, but if he were to choose someone other than the Fighting Irish, the Gamecocks have just as good of a chance to land him as anyone else. Gilbert has been on campus in Columbia multiple times, and lots of Charlotte-area kids have been showing a high level of interest in the Gamecock football program.

South Carolina is in on several other big-time receivers in the class of 2024. Mazeo Bennett has already committed to wide receivers coach Justin Stepp and head coach Shane Beamer and has become one of the loudest recruiters in the class. As receiver targets, Gilbert is joined by fellow 4-star targets Parker Livingstone (from Texas), Kam Mikell (from Georgia, could also play defensive back), Daniel Hill (from Mississippi, will probably play running back in college), and Channing Goodwin (also from Charlotte).
