SEC Football: Need a football fix? How to watch the 7 spring games on Saturday
By Kevin Miller
With the start of the season being over 100 days away, SEC football fans are desperate for some football. Offseason workout updates, spring practice clips, and recruiting pictures are great, but they don’t quite match the same energy that a game can bring. While we are still months away from that glorious moment when toe first meets leather to kickoff the year, games will be played this weekend. Spring games, that is.
Some SEC programs have already played their annual spring games. Missouri played their game in March…for some reason. Auburn, Vanderbilt, and Florida have also already played their spring games over the last two weeks. And poor Kentucky isn’t even having a game due to renovations and turf replacement at Commonwealth Stadium.
But on Saturday, 7 different SEC football programs will face off against themselves in order to give fans their first official glimpse of the 2023 versions of their favorite teams. Spring games ultimately don’t mean much, but there are plenty of things fans can learn if they watch closely enough, and, let’s face it, some semblance of football is much better than no football at all.
Here is a schedule for the loaded Saturday slate:
1:00 – Arkansas Razorbacks; Mississippi State Bulldogs
2:30 – Tennessee Volunteers
3:00 – Ole Miss Rebels
4:00 – Georgia Bulldogs; Texas A&M Aggies
7:00 – South Carolina Gamecocks
All times are in EST, and all games will be broadcast on the SECNetwork+ and the ESPN App, except for Georgia: the Bulldogs will be on the main SECNetwork and the ESPN App.
For those interested, the Alabama Crimson Tide and LSU Tigers will play their annual spring intra-squad scrimmages next Saturday at 2:00 and 3:00, respectively.
Future SEC members Texas and Oklahoma will play their spring games on April 15th at 2:00 (Texas) and April 22nd at 4:00 (Oklahoma). Both games can be found on ESPN+ and the ESPN App, and the Texas spring game can also be found on the Longhorn Network.
