South Carolina Football’s No. 7 Safety of All-Time:
Bryant Gilliard

Bryant Gilliard (1980-1984) began his career with three years without playing before being inserted into the starting lineup as a redshirt junior. Gilliard took advantage of his opportunities and made the All-South Independent team that season, and he was even better as a senior. As a captain on the “Black Magic” team of 1984, Gilliard was an All-American after logging a ridiculous 125 tackles and 9 interceptions, both of which led the team.

Gilliard finished his career in the top-5 in career interceptions despite only playing for two seasons. After he graduated from South Carolina, he went on to a brief career in the short-lived USFL.
