South Carolina Football: 4-star Georgia prospect likes the Gamecocks
By Kevin Miller
As South Carolina football’s future recruiting continues to go well, it’s been no secret what the priority has been: the line of scrimmage. #trenches has been a rallying cry on the recruiting trail since last cycle when the Gamecocks landed big-time offensive linemen Markee Anderson, Trovon Baugh, and ‘Tosin Babalade and high-upside defensive linemen Xzavier McLeod, Desmond Umeozulu, and Elijah Davis.
The 2024 class has seen the same focus up front as offensive linemen Kam Pringle and Blake Franks have already made their pledges public to the University of South Carolina, and potential 5-star tackle Josiah Thompson is expected to join them later in the week. The Gamecocks are heavily involved with multiple elite defensive linemen in 2024, as well, including KingJoseph Edwards, Justin Greene, and #1 overall player Dylan Stewart.
The 2025 class has started to trend in the same direction. Top overall prospect David Sanders is an offensive lineman considering South Carolina, and 4-star Georgia product Nick Brooks just put the Gamecocks in his top-10.
Brooks is a big offensive tackle from Buford, Georgia set to be part of the 2025 recruiting class. He currently has a top-10 of South Carolina, Florida, Iowa State, Penn State, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Florida State, Texas, and Iowa. The fact that he boasts offers from many programs known for their offensive lines (Alabama, Penn State, and Iowa perennially have some of the top offensive line units in America) should give South Carolina fans optimism about Brooks’ abilities if he were to eventually pick the ‘Cocks.
Listed at 6’7″ and 345 pounds, Brooks is enormous. He is rated a 4-star prospect by On3 but has not yet been ranked by 247Sports. Being a 2025 prospect, Brooks’ recruitment is still wide open as there is a long way to go in this one. The Gamecocks, though, are right in the thick of it.
