South Carolina Football’s No. 8 Linebacker of All-Time:
Ed Baxley

Ed Baxley (1979-1980) doesn’t get talked about enough by Carolina fans. In his two seasons in Columbia, Baxley recorded over 100 tackles both years and was picked as an All-South Independent performer. Baxley was a thumper, and big #50 could really run as he excelled at chasing down ball carriers on the edge. Baxley is one of just a handful of Gamecocks to ever have multiple games with 13+ tackles in the same season. He had a brief career in the USFL.
