South Carolina Football’s No. 13 Linebacker of All-Time:
Rick Brown

Rick Brown (1970-1972) played in an era when freshmen were not allowed to play on the football team. When he was allowed on the field as a sophomore, he was a disruptive nose tackle who played on the defensive line despite weighing just 210 pounds. The following season saw Brown move to his more natural spot at linebacker. The junior put together one of the best tackling seasons in Gamecock history as he brought down 143 opponents. Injuries hampered him as a senior, but his junior season was enough for him to be drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 1973.
