South Carolina Football’s No. 14 Linebacker of All-Time:
Shannon Wadley

Owner of one of the coolest nicknames in South Carolina football history, Shannon Wadley (1997-2001) was called “Bodybag” for his hard-hitting style of play. His career is a big example of a Gamecock “what if” because he only spent one full season on the field after redshirting in ‘97, being a backup in ‘98, and missing virtually all of the 1999 and 2001 seasons with injuries.

When he was on the field, Wadley was a stud. In his one full season of action, Wadley had 12 tackles for loss, five passes defended, and four forced fumbles. His big hit on Arkansas’ Fred Talley (linked above) is one of the biggest thumps in Gamecock history, and his strong play in 2000 led to him getting a short NFL opportunity.
