South Carolina Football’s No. 2 Linebacker of All-Time:
JD Fuller

JD Fuller (1979-1983) was a stud for the Gamecocks. He is the all-time leading tackler in Carolina history and spent most of his career cleaning up messes left behind by his teammates. Fuller didn’t spend much time in the backfield (only 6 career tackles for loss), but he prevented countless numbers of big plays by making the stop after a different Gamecock couldn’t bring down the ball carrier.

Fuller battled injuries early in his Gamecock tenure causing him to miss some of 1979 and all of 1980. When fully healthy as a redshirt sophomore, he began an impressive stretch of football that saw him rack up 120 tackles three years in a row, something never repeated by another Gamecock. Perhaps the most remarkable stat from Fuller’s run was that he logged at least 9 tackles in every game of the 1981 season.
