South Carolina Football’s No. 3 Linebacker of All-Time:
James Seawright

A nasty player on the field, James Seawright (1981-1984) was a great player as a four-year starter for the Gamecocks in the early ’80s. At times playing alongside Mike Durrah, Kenneth Robinson, and JD Fuller, Seawright stood out as the only one of the four who was always healthy and available. An athletic player, Seawright was one of the best Gamecocks ever at playing sideline-to-sideline.

Seawright set the school record for single-game tackles with an astounding 29 stops in a win over NC State. He was a very good player for three seasons before exploding as a senior after Fuller and Durrah graduated. The senior Seawright put together a 148-tackle season that saw him picked as an All-American. His 384 tackles are in the top-4 ever at South Carolina. He had a brief NFL career after being drafted in 1985.
