No. 7: The future at quarterback for South Carolina football might have arrived on campus this winter

Spencer Rattler is the clear starter at quarterback in 2023. Luke Doty is the backup, and Dakereon Joyner will get some snaps in the wildcat. But another quarterback has been turning heads in recent weeks. LaNorris Sellers, the Florence product the Gamecocks flipped from Syracuse during the Early Signing Period, came to campus much more ready to play than originally expected.

The bespectacled Sellers is a dual-threat quarterback. He has good size at 6’3″ and 232 pounds and has been credited with throwing the ball over 60 yards through the air with ease. There have also been rumors that he has run the 40-yard dash in the 4.4-4.5 range, meaning he is one of the fastest quarterbacks to ever come to Carolina. That’s not too bad for an 18 year-old freshman who enrolled in college early. Sellers has much room to grow as he learns the college game, but his physical tools should have Gamecock fans excited about the future.
