Just a bit before South Carolina baseball’s first pitch against North Carolina A&T, more positive news came in for Mark Kingston’s club. During a weekend sweep of Ivy League championship contender Penn, Saturday starter Noah Hall delivered 8 dominant innings of 3-hit ball that included 12 strikeouts and 0 walks. For his efforts, Perfect Game USA named Hall their National Pitcher of the Week. Florida’s Jac Caglione (coincidently, also a pitcher) was named the National Offensive Player of the Week.

Hall was also named SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week by the conference. This is his third time winning the award as he won it twice in 2022.

Hall joins Gamecock true freshman Ethan Petry who was named one of Collegiate Baseball’s National Players of the Week on Monday for his offensive efforts last week. Petry is just one home run off the national lead (tied with teammate Gavin Casas) despite not starting two games so far this season.

The Gamecocks and NCA&T Aggies just began their Tuesday matchup with a first-pitch strike from Carolina hurler James Hicks. The game will be South Carolina’s only mid-week game this week as they ready themselves to take on the rival Clemson Tigers this weekend.

Clemson plays USC Upstate in a mid-week matchup today, but the Tigers are coming off of being on the wrong side (or the right side if you are a Gamecock fan) of a three-game sweep at the hands of the UCF Knights. After the sweep, the Knights snuck into Memorial Stadium and ran down the hill, trolling Clemson by mocking their pregame football entrance. You can watch the troll job by clicking the link beneath this article.

South Carolina will travel to Clemson for Game 1 of the series, which will be televised on the ACCNetwork Extra and the ESPN App at 6:00 on Friday. Game 2 will be at 1:00 in Greenville, South Carolina on the SECNetwork+ and the ESPN App, and Game 3 will be played at 1:30 in Columbia on the SECNetwork+ and the ESPN App.
