It was a good weekend for South Carolina baseball. The Gamecocks remained undefeated after sweeping the potential Ivy League champion Penn Quakers at Founder’s Park, and their bitter rivals from the Upstate of South Carolina lost three games in a row at home to get swept by the UCF Knights.

Adding insult to injury for the Tigers, the UCF baseball team somehow got inside Memorial Stadium and ran down the hill, trolling the Tigers by re-enacting their pre-game football entrance. The Knights even mocked Clemson’s football players rubbing Howard’s Rock and holding each other back before the run down the hill.

The troll job will surely add a little conversation to this weekend’s upcoming rivalry series between the Gamecocks and the Tigers. South Carolina baseball is looking to continue their strong play on the season, while the Tigers hope to bounce back from a disappointing start in the first year of new Head Coach Erik Bakich. Rivalry week will also include mid-week home games against the North Carolina A&T Aggies and USC Upstate Spartans for the Gamecocks and Tigers, respectively.

As has been usual in recent years, the weekend series will be split between three locations. Clemson will host the first game at Doug Kingsmore Stadium at 6:00 on the ACC Network Extra and the ESPN App. Game 2 will be in Greenville at Fluor Field at 1:00 on the SECNetwork+ and the ESPN App (the Gamecocks will act as the home team for the neutral site contest). The series finale in Game 3 will be played at Founder’s Park in Columbia at 1:30 also on the SECNetwork+ and the ESPN App.

The last two seasons have seen each squad sweep the other, as the Clemson baseball team won all three contests in 2022, and the South Carolina baseball team won each game in the 2021 season.
