Former South Carolina football player Deebo Samuel burst onto the NFL scene this year with a huge 2021 campaign. In the do-it-all receiver’s third season in San Francisco, Samuel led the league in yards per catch while hauling in a career high 77 receptions.

In total, he notched 1,405 yards through the air, 365 yards as a rusher, and even threw for a touchdown pass. Samuel found the endzone 14 times, ranked third in the NFL in yards from scrimmage, and landed first-team All-Pro honors.

To anyone who watched professional football this past season, it was evident that the budding star was one of the NFL’s most versatile players.

One popular talk show host took note, tabbing Samuel as his favorite “non-QB” in the league. Check it out.

Cowherd is one of the top personalities in professional sports broadcasting. He’s worked with Fox Sports, airing a talk show on the FS1 Network. He’s also the founder of Volume Sports, a website that tracks trending topics in the world of athletics.

Cowherd’s hot takes and superb knowledge of the NFL have allowed him to make a lucrative career in journalism. The fact that he dubbed Samuel one of his favorite players should come as a huge honor.

Cowherd notes the wideout’s ability to “do anything you need” on the field. That versatility shined in the 49ers’ playoff win over Dallas this past Sunday.

Samuel caught three passes for 38 yards. He also ran for another 72 yards to give him a 100-yard performance. His top play came on a 26-yard touchdown scamper that wound up being the difference in a six-point game.

Prior to that late touchdown run, Deebo said to head coach Kyle Shanahan, “Hey, just give me the ball. I got you.”

Samuel will look to continue his impressive season next week as a second-round playoff matchup awaits. Another big game could help lead the 49ers on a Super Bowl run.
