South Carolina football showing love to 5-star LB on Twitter

The South Carolina football staff is out recruiting during the break between the regular season and the postseason. They’re hoping to build upon a recruiting class that currently ranks 17th in the nation according to Rivals.

That rating would go up a lot more should the Gamecocks land a four-star linebacker Jaishawn Barham.

Barham is viewed as the nation’s eighth-best linebacking prospect as well as the second-best player in the state of Maryland. As of now, it appears his recruitment is coming down to South Carolina, Penn State, and the hometown Terrapins.

To show Barham just how important he is to the future success of South Carolina football, the media team made a video showing fan support of the star defender and what a commitment would mean to the program.

It’s a great way for the South Carolina football program to showcase Barham’s abilities as well as highlight what his pledge would mean to the community. Barham having reposted the video to share on his timeline will only give the team and coaching staff more positive exposure.

Barham certainly fills a position of need for the Gamecocks, who are searching for answers in the middle of the defense. It’s an area that the team is thin which could provide the Maryland native with a path to early playing time.

He plans to sign this month during the early signing period. His college decision will likely have to wait until then. Rest assured knowing the Gamecocks are doing all they can to land that signature.
