The South Carolina football team will wrap up its 2021 regular season this weekend with its annual instate rivalry against the Clemson Tigers. It will be the first matchup between the two schools since 2019 as last year’s matchup was cancelled due to COVID. Clemson has won six straight in the series dating back to 2014, a streak the Gamecocks are hoping to end on Saturday.

Both of these teams enter the game playing their best football. After starting slow, the Gamecocks have finally found an offense to notch wins over Florida and Auburn over the last three weeks.

The Tigers have won four straight, posting at least 30 points in each of those matchups to get to 8-3 on the season. Both defensive units have put together solid performances thus far.

Clemson holds a 67-40-4 overall advantage in the series including having won the last six. The Gamecocks won the five matchups prior to the Tigers’ recent streak and are hoping to get back in the win column this weekend.

The latest WynnBET odds list the Gamecocks as being an 11.5-point underdog to their archrival. Clemson is listed as the favorite with -500 odds to win while South Carolina holds +375 money line odds. The over/under is set at 43.5.

One trend to keep track of is home and away performance. The Gamecocks are 5-1 in Williams-Brice Stadium this year, covering in four of those wins. That includes winning outright as home ‘dogs against Florida and Auburn in their last two tries. Clemson is just 2-3 away from home with a 1-4 mark against the spread.

South Carolina football vs. Clemson Tigers prediction week 13.

South Carolina has to feel good about their chances considering the down year for the Tigers but this is still a talented Clemson team. The defense is stout and will give Jason Brown issues. He has to avoid the big turnovers in order to keep the Gamecocks in it.

Where Clemson has been struggling is on offense. Even in this latest winning streak, the Tigers have been inconsistent. Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei is not living up to his five-star potential and the Clemson offensive unit is paying the price.

The backfields appear to be the strengths of both offenses. Will Shipley and Kobe Pace both went over 100 yards on the ground last week in Clemson’s win over Wake Forest. ZaQuandre White has totaled 100 yards from scrimmage in three straight contests while Kevin Harris is rushing for more than 75 yards a game in that same time frame.

The Gamecocks have struggled to contain opposing rushers in each of the last two games. Shoring up that defensive front seven will be key.

In what could be a low scoring affair, we’ll take the Gamecocks to cover the spread in a close loss at home.
