South Carolina football: Gamecocks vs. Texas A&M Aggies odds and prediction for college football week 8 matchup.

The South Carolina football team travels to College Station this weekend where they’ll face off against annual cross over rival Texas A&M. The Aggies enter the game with two losses, but are fresh off an upset of top ranked Alabama just two weeks ago. They took down Missouri last weekend by a score of 35-14.

South Carolina, on the other hand, narrowly escaped with a home victory over Vanderbilt to move to 4-3 on the year. The 21-20 win saw graduate transfer Zeb Noland enter the game in the final moments to lead the Gamecocks offense on a game winning drive with under a minute left in the contest.

Shane Beamer and Co. will have their work cut out for them on the long road trip as the Gamecocks have yet to take down the Aggies since Texas A&M’s joining the SEC back in 2012. The Aggies were swiftly assigned as South Carolina’s annual SEC Western division foe and have since reeled off seven straight wins in the series.

Making things worse, the Gamecocks have been outscored by a total of 78-9 over the last two seasons. Prior to that, South Carolina kept the game within one score three of the previous four meetings.

Let’s take a look at where this year’s line stands and evaluate the Gamecocks’ chances to beat the spread.

The week 8 betting odds on WynnBET list South Carolina as being 21-point underdogs against Texas A&M. The Aggies are the favorites with -1500 money line odds, while the Gamecocks have +1000 odds to win. The total is set at 45 points.

South Carolina football vs. Texas A&M Aggies prediction week 8.

This has not been a good matchup for the Gamecocks as they’ve dropped all seven contests in the series. Three of those seven meetings have been decided by 24 points or more, including each of the last two.

Unfortunately for the Gamecocks, the Aggies have seemingly put things together after getting off to a slow start. The rushing attack with Isaiah Spiller seems poised to have another big day on the ground and the Aggie defense should be able to keep a very uninspired South Carolina offense in check.

The Gamecocks just don’t seem to have an identity on offense and the defense can only do so much. The Aggies should be able to get out of College Station with a win as long as they protect the ball. This just doesn’t seem like the year that South Carolina gets their first win in the series.

While we don’t see the Gamecocks covering the 21-point spread, we do think they’ll score just enough to help eclipse the 45-point total.
